Homework Week 3 (29/7/13)

Forensic Science

 Inherited and other traits:

Task 1: Research some genetic traits that people have. Some examples include
  • Darwin's point
  • Hitchhikers thumb
  • Widows peak
  • Cleft chin
Task 2: Take a close look at yourself in the mirror. List some interesting aspects about your face (perhaps you have not noticed them before!). Some of these traits are inherited, others are individual. This is what makes you unique.

Task 3: List which of the following apply to you:
1. I have detached earlobes
2. I have a hitchhikers thumb
3. I can roll my tongue
4. I have straight hair
5. I have hair on my knuckles
6. I have a widows peak
7. I have freckles on my face
8. I have dimples when I smile
9. When I clasp my hands together my left thumb is on top
10. My big toe is longer than my other toes
11. I am right handed
12. I have a dimple in my chin
13. I can wiggle my ears

Task 4: Make a comparison graph, comparing yourself to the other people in your family. A simple bar or column graph will be fine. Which traits are the same? You might like to include your grandparents or even your great-grandparents as traits can sometimes skip a generation (bring your graph on Friday)

Task 5: Visit the following website:http://flashface.ctapt.de/
Select from a range of head, hair, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, chin and jaw options to form an identikit image of a face. Print it or copy and paste it to make a wanted poster.

Hope you have fun Mini-Forensic Scientists! (Due on Friday)
