Artist Study: Vincent Fantauzzo
Vincent Fantauzzo is the artist that Leah was telling us about in class. This is a great interview for us to to watch during NAIDOC week. Vincent's paintings are amazing. This is an interview where he talks about how and why he created a painting of a young Indigenous actor he worked with during the making of an Australian movie. Thanks Leah!
Artist study: Chris Del Moro
Considering where we live and the fact that many of you enjoy surfing, you might like to find out more about Chris Del Moro's art. In RE, we will be looking at the inter-connectedness of creation and our responsibility as stewards of the earth. As you start to think about what this might look like in your day to day lives (and considering that the ocean is right outside your classroom window!) this might be a good place to start Chris Del Moro: Light Waves
Some of my Favourite Poets...
As you know I am a fan of Shel Silverstein. I like the way that he uses humour to make subtle comments about the world around him. I also appreciate the fact that some of his poems are just down right funny and completely silly! Here are some of my faves, add yours in the comment box and I will try to find some links.
Crocodile's Toothache
Backward Bill
Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou writes the most inspirational poems. Do some research about her, she has such an amazing life story! Although many of her poems are written for an adult audience, she has written some wonderful poems for children. I really love the way she uses words to invoke an emotional response.I love the Look of Words
Read this one slowly, using all of your senses...
I Love the Look of Words
Popcorn leaps, popping from the floor
Of a hot black skillet
And into my mouth.
Black words leap,
Snapping from the white page.
Rushing into my eyes.
Sliding into my brain which gobbles them
The way my tongue and teeth
Chomp the buttered popcorn
When I have stopped reading,
Ideas from the words stay stuck
In my mind, like the sweet
Fingers long after the popcorn is finished.
I love the book and the look of words
The weight of ideas popped into my mind
I love the tracks
Of new thinking in my mind.
