Costumes for the Performance - 25th June at 2pm
PUT YOUR NAME ON EVERYTHING
Years 3 & 4
Years 3 and 4 have been learning about music in the 80's. For your performance, choose some 80's style clothing, remembering that the weather may be quite cool in June. Please think carefully about your shoes - you need to be able to jump and dance safely. Ensure you bring your clothes to school in a separate bag with your name on it. There are over 100 children performing and getting changed on the day so ensure that your clothes have your name on them. Remember to take care of your belongings. YOU are responsible for any clothing or accessories you bring in on the day.
Years 5 & 6
You are seasoned professionals at this process!Years 5 and 6 have chosen to perform the 'Grease Megamix'. Costumes for the girls are the same style as they wore for last years 50's performance, with colourful swirling skirts, funky hair/neck scarves and converse style shoes (they don't have to be 'Converse' brand of course!) Please wear tights under your skirts so that they can flare when you spin.
For the boys, wear 'Danny' style clothes with an old shirt over the top that you can spin and throw. You will need an additional jacket, cardigan or collared shirt (that you wear for the duration of the performance) which you can use to flip the shoulders of during the 'Grease Lightening' song. Jeans and converse style shoes will work well. Remember you will be throwing your shirt so PUT YOUR NAME ON IT - there will be around 60 shirts flying through the air, you will need to be able to find yours at the end! Don't throw any leather jackets. The girls will grab your shirt as they skip off and you will find it at the end - first and last names please. If you want to wear a hat, make sure it will firmly stay on your head the whole time.
For the Pink Ladies - you need your pink jackets
For the T-Birds - you need to wear black where possible - If you have a comb at home that you can put in your pocket for 'cool hair' combing during the performance, please bring that in too.
Some things we learnt from last year:
1. No high heels - you will twist your ankle and they fall off when you walk. SAFE shoes only.
2. When you are changing your jeans, you need to take your shoes off first or your feet will get stuck. Last year there was some feet rescuing jean cutting involved...
3. NAME ON EVERYTHING. Be aware of what you bring and come and look for any lost items in the music room the next day.
4. You will be dressing yourself. Don't rely on mum to come in and help you because you will be getting changed at different times during the day.
5. Girls, you don't need makeup. It is a 6 minute school performance not a weekend dance spectacular. You are naturally beautiful- we want to see you shine not your lipstick!
Best of luck and happy singing and dancing
