I think that the story was a fantastic story, and was really good. At first I didn’t understand the story, but now I do because of how it was explained and also watching a segment of the movie helped. I would like to read more of Banjo Patterson’s poems because they are very interesting.

  11. I found the Poem (The Man From Snowy River) was a good Poem to read. It was much easier when Mrs Mang told us what the word meant. The movie was really good to, I think I have heard the person that was telling the Poem before. I found the movie better to understand with the photos and with the man telling the story too. 13. Tthe man from snowy river poem was a great poem yet the language was hard to understand because it is fairly old. Once I saw the video clip it all clicked. I especially enjoyed the man speaking with the video clip playing in the background. I give it a 8/10. It was a fabulous book written by a fabulous author.

  15. I realy liked 'The Man from Snowy River'. It made my heart stop when Jim and his small horse went down the vally, I thoght the horse was going to stumble.
Watching the movie made me understand the poem a bit more, but since Mrs Mang explaned it I much understood it.
I was taken by the story, but I would like to see Jessica and Jim get married.
The painting in the book was beautiful, I realy liked how they use water colour.
I feel sorry for the horse, because they would'nt let them roam free.
The book made me feel Australian.

  17. The actual poem with a scene of the movie on youtube was really interesting and when he went down the hill it would have had me on the edge of my seat. I think I would enjoy more of his poems as they express great things about Australia and how brave people can be even though they aren't wealthy or have the best horse. Its weird how Harrison wanted his daughter to marry someone rich. The words were hard to understand because they are old, but when we watched the movie it got stuck in your head forever.

  24. The text and the clip together helped me understand the poem The man from snowy river because it read the text with great expressions which got me interested even more. Also the clip from the movie was even better. This helped me understand the poems words/meanings only because it was written in 1890. I thoroughly enjoyed this poem and am looking forward to hearing more of Banjo Pattersons poems :)

  30. I think The Man From Snowy River is a really good poem/movie I liked it because it was very interesting and I love the words that Banjo Patterson used to describe the way that the horses were moving and how people react to Jim's riding I also like all of the olden day words he uses and if you actually think about it you can make out what it means. Like "cracks" it mean stock men.

  32. Your written responses are getting better each time we try this year 5, well done! It's great to read that the poem made some of you 'feel' Australian, I think Banjo Patterson would like to know that his poetry has the ability to make children feel that way, so many generations after it was written. This is the sense of 'patriotism' we have been talking about in music, that feeling of being proud of who you are and where you come from. The language in the poem was difficult to understand, but you can see why the poem is a legendary part of Australian history. I am glad to see that most of you enjoyed it.
